Welcome to Kerens ISD!
A letter from our Superintendent 6-25-2014
Subject: Financial Situation
Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to say that the School Board passed a budget that will help move the district forward in re-establishing a fund balance that will eventually eliminate any cash flow issues for the district. With that being said, we must be diligent in being prudent with our spending. Supply budgets have been cut in some cases by 20%. Some teaching and teaching/coaching positions that have been vacated are not being filled or are being filled by existing personnel who are not being replaced. Our Principals are making the needed adjustments in order to continue to provide outstanding educational programs for our students with fewer personnel.
The good news is that we were able to make financial progress without eliminating the longevity pay or step raises or reducing the insurance contribution that is currently paid by K.I.S.D.
Our board and administrative team are working together to both protect what is excellent in Kerens ISD and assure it’s future financial security. We know that everyone is impacted by our financial situation. If we band together for the good of the district, community and most of all our students, Kerens ISD will rise above and be able to continue to provide a world class education now and in the future.
Superintendent, Kerens ISD
